Luke Kuechly, the stud linebacker for the Carolina Panthers, has officially announced his retirement. The five-time all-pro and the seven-time pro bowler has formally moved on in a video posted by panthers.com. In the video, he stated that “there is only one way to play this game since I was a little kid is to play fast and play physical and play strong; and at this point, I don’t know if I’m able to do that anymore. That’s the part that’s the most difficult.” Kuechly has missed seven games in his eight seasons with many separate concussions.

Many players have tweeted about playing with him, like his teammates and also players who have played against him. Even the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell spoke about the matter on Good Morning, Football. “He is a spectacular guy. A great football player,” Goodell said. “I loved watching him play. I’ve never seen a competitor like that.”

Will Luke Kuechly’s leaving affect the Panthers next year? Yes and no. Yes because Luke Kuechly is a tremendous player and a locker room leader. And no, because they have other good linebackers like Shaq Thompson and Bruce Irvin. Truly, the NFL will miss a great player like Luke Kuechly.
