On August 28, 2020, actor, writer, and director Chadwick Boseman passed away in his home with his family by his side at the young age of 43. His death was caused by stage IV colon cancer. Even with many surgeries and chemotherapy, he was unable to be saved. This very unfortunate news was released on Twitter the day after his death by his devastated family.

Boseman was in many incredible films, the most popular being “Black Panther” from Marvel Studios. Some of his other well known films are “21 Bridges,” “42,” and “Kill Hole.” He also directed the short film “Heaven.”

While battling his own cancer, Chadwick Boseman visited children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He brought them toys and gave them hope, courage and inspiration. ”

He was born in Anderson, South Carolina. Boseman’s mother, Carolyn, was a nurse. His father, Leroy, worked at a textile factory. His younger brother, Kevin, is a dancer; and Derrick, his older brother, is a preacher in South Carolina. Boseman dated singer Taylor Simone Ledward since 2015, marrying her in secret after getting engaged in late 2019.

Boseman’s first lead film was “42.” He played Jackie Robinson, the first black major league baseball player. His character faces racism and prejudice, but he gets through with courage and talent. Interestingly, before this film, Boseman  was considering giving up his acting career and focusing on directing.

While battling his own cancer, Chadwick Boseman visited children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He brought them toys and gave them hope, courage, and inspiration.  Sadly, two of his fans being treated for cancer at this hospital passed away before getting to see the movie “Black Panther.” 

After Chadwick Boseman’s death, all of his fans and celebrity friends were heart-broken. The world will never forget this true superhero and idol.
